Learning Objectives (pharmacists & pharmacy technicians)
  • Describe the risk of thromboembolic disease during active COVID-19 infection and the impact on morbidity and mortality.
  • Appraise current available evidence on the role of anticoagulation in preventing thromboembolism and improving outcomes in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.
  • Explain the potential benefit of extended VTE prophylaxis post discharge in patients recently hospitalized for COVID-19. 



The University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education (CPE).  This activity has been accredited for 1.0 contact hours of knowledge-based CPE for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.  To receive CPE, participants must create a profile on with their NABP eProfile ID number and birthdate, and complete the activity evaluation.  CPE credit will be uploaded to CPE Monitor upon completion of the activity evaluation.
